Hi Friends,
It’s been a crazy couple of
weeks. Settlers have attacked children on their way to summer camp four times.
During one of these attacks, they also beat my teammate Joel Gulledge with a
stone and his own video camera. He was sent to the hospital, but is now out and
seems to being doing as well emotionally as one could possibly expect.
Following the attack, Palestinians organized a march to Tuba, which was
tremendously successful. They were able to march up and down a road that they
haven’t been able to use for 11 years. However, during the demonstration, my
teammate Kristin was arrested. She may still face deportation. You can find
more information on the CPT website (www.cpt.org) and even more at my blog:

I’m personally begging you
to do what you can to help end the violence in the South Hebron Hills. The
Israeli police have done nothing to apprehend the settlers who have attacked
the children. Please call the police station and demand that they do so. Don't
be shy - the worse that can happen is that the telephone operator will be rude
to you! If you have it, skype should making calling them very easy.
I deeply appreciate your
support and help.
Yours,
Joy
At-Tuwani: Urgent Action
Update
3 Sunday 2008
On Sunday 3 August 2008,
human rights worker Kristin Anderson was released from Israeli police custody,
but the Israeli police have taken no steps to prevent setter violence in the
South Hebron Hills. CPT urges you to contact the Israeli police at Kiryat Arba
and demand immediate action to prevent further setter attacks on Palestinian
school children. Over the last two weeks settlers have attacked Palestinian
children on their way to summer camp four times. Settlers continue to yell,
chase, curse, and throw rocks at the children, while Israeli police refuse to
apprehend perpetrators. In November 2004 the Israeli Knesset declared that the
Israeli police are responsible for apprehending violent settlers.
Please call the police and
demand justice:
