The American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights Foundation (AAPER) is a fledgling educational organization that seeks to involve a variety of US interest groups in working for equal rights for Palestinians.   It invites participation from labor, educators, African-Americans, environmentalists and others who may have a special concern for the inquality that limits Palestinians' lives and hopes today.

Here is an example of AAPER outreach that may be of special interest to Quakers:  Christians United for Justice in Israel-Palestine.

Christians United for Justice in Israel-Palestine (CUJIP) is a group of American Christians who believe that the principles of freedom and equality should be applied to the peoples of the Holy Land.  We are concerned by the diminishing presence of Christians in the Holy Land over the last 100 years; we are troubled by the conditions of the Christians currently living there, including the restrictions placed on their religious freedoms by Israel; we are alarmed that some American Christians have supported discrimination against Palestinians as fulfillment of "biblical prophecy"; and we are inspired by the biblical injunction to "maintain justice and do what is right." Isaiah 56:1

CUJIP believes that fundamental Christian principles of compassion, equality and reconciliation enjoin Christians in America to support justice in the Holy Land.

With this as our foundation, we support U.S. policies toward Israel and Palestine that:

(1) defend the rights of Palestinian Christians and Muslims to freedom and equality;

(2) support nonviolent Palestinian, Israeli and international resistance to Israeli occupation;

(3) back the efforts of Israel's peace and human rights community to bring reconciliation to the peoples of the Holy Land;

(4) advance the Arab League Initiative for Comprehensive Peace with Israel; and

(5) support the peaceful coexistence of Israel's Jewish community with the peoples of the wider Middle East.

We invite you to join us today!

[CUJIP is a project of the American Association for Palestinian Equal Rights Foundation (the AAPER Foundation), a 501(c)(3) educational organization.]
